Green Acres is the place to be

Standing upon Steptoe Butte, in heart of the Palouse region of Eastern Washington, my thoughts wandered back to my childhood. No, I didn’t grow up on a farm nor did I visit one. I was a New Yorker through and through. Manhattan was more my style. What I was pondering were all those TV reruns from the 1960s and early 1970s, on a black and white TV, with fun theme songs.

Green Acres is the place to be.

If you love green, these acres are the place to be. This is a look at just a few acres, zoomed in nice and tight.

Farm livin’ is the life for me.

There are farms everywhere, but only a few grain silos. Here is one zoomed in from the butte.

Land spreadin’ out so far and wide

The rolling hills go on and on, far and wide. Just before sunset, the greens are now taking on a golden hue.

Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

Just after the sun sets, this countryside is nearly majestic. Beats Manhattan?

If you don’t know or remember the Green Acres TV show, check out the theme song here.

Remember, it’s all about the light – with a little help from Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor.
