Happy New Year!

Thank you very much for following us during 2014.  We visited (and wrote about) many wonderful places: landscapes in Arches & Canyonlands, beaches on Cape Cod, rolling green hills in the Palouse region of Washington, Sunflowers in CT, Boston cityscapes, fall colors in NH, iconic shots of San Francisco, and landscape at Yosemite.  It’s been quite a year of travel.  Again, thanks for following along.

One thing we all do at the start of a new year is to look ahead and set up goals and resolutions.  Well, Kathryn and I did that for ourselves.  But we also set up plans for what we want to accomplish with our photography.  Number 1 on the list is to see and shoot more wonderful places. So please plan to join us as we visit and shoot during 2015. Here is a sampling of what we have planned for you:

  • A May trip to Northern Arizona & Southern Utah with our daughter Rachel (who graduates from UMass this May). Our graduation gift to her, is a hiking and photo trip that includes a whirl wind tour of the Grand Canyon, slot canyons in Page, AZ area, Arches, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, and Winslow.  She wants to, “stand on a corner”.
  • A July trip to Kenya, Africa for a safari with Moose Peterson.  You may be wondering why we would want to subject ourselves to more abuse. (See a Rude Awakening.)  We too are wondering the same thing. The trip will include 18 4-hour safaris.  Now, at hundreds of photos per safari…  I think we will need to buy more memory chips!
  • An August trip to Utah and Nevada where we will visit Bryce National Park and Zion National Park and end up in Las Vegas for Photoshop World. Photoshop World will be three days of early morning to late night training sessions in photography, gear, and editing tools.
  • An October cruise on the Mediterranean Sea from Venice to Barcelona with stops in Croatia, Italy, and France.  We’ll stay a few extra days in Venice and Barcelona.

This already seems like a full year, yet we are already thinking about how we can sneak in a few other day trips or weekends away for more photographic fun.

Once again, Happy New Year from the both of us. The picture below was taken this morning after a dusting of Arizona snow last night.  By the time we were done, all the snow was gone.

By noon all the snow was gone off the McDowell Mountains

Remember, it’s all about the light!
