Pier 39 gets all the attention.  It has a lot of touristy shops which were built because there is a really cool touristy attraction – seals on the pier.  There are hundreds of them.  They are fun to watch as they roughhouse with each other and are quite vocal.  But, this blog has nothing to do with them.  There are no pictures of a cute seal.  This blog is about Pier 7 which has beautiful views of the city.

On our last day in San Fran (getting ready for our trip to Yosemite), we decided to get up extra early to shoot sunrise at Pier 7. We wanted one more shoot before we left the city. So down to the pier we went, got the tripods and gear all set up, and started to shoot.

This photo was taken before sunrise looking back at the city.  You can see the famous Transamerica building at the end of the walkway. (It’s the pyramid shaped building)

As the sun started to peak above the horizon, Coit Tower started to glow among the multi-colored (very expensive) homes:

There is a lot more to see from the end of the Pier such as the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco Belle.  You’ll have to visit early in the morning to see these.

Remember, its all about the light…
