My shooting finger was getting itchy since my last kill on Thanksgiving morning. Always looking for an opportunity to shoot, we spotted a grove of trees with lichen all over the trunks.  It was pouring as we drove by, OK, raining, but too wet to shoot. Didn’t have my camera either.  The trunks looked fantastic with the wet lichen contrasted against the light colored bark.  We decided to come back as soon as it stopped pouring (OK, raining. Just didn’t feel like getting cold and wet).

Day turned to night and it was still raining.  Our opportunity was gone for the day.  At daybreak (I don’t know why we can’t sleep after first light, but that is a story for another day), the rain had stopped. Would the trees still be wet?  We rushed out of the house and drove to our grove.  The trees had mostly dried but they offered some nice shots anyway.  Here is part of the grove – just try and imagine them wet, producing added contrast.

If only the trees remained wet, this shot would have been what I saw the day before.

Now that the landscape shot was completed, I walked the area looking for smaller views of the scene. With “what’s the subject” reverberating in my head , I shot these morning shots.

What's the subject? This nice looking tree!

Thank you for stopping by. And remember, it’s all about the light.
